Fracking for Natural Gas is Happening in Tennessee. Hundreds of Thousands of Acres of Tennessee Countryside at Risk!
The Natural Gas Industry has been quietly purchasing mineral rights on hundreds of thousands of acres in East Tennessee and is poised to drill hundreds of new wells as Export Terminals are opening up and the price of gas rises. There are already over 800 wells in Tennessee, 320 of them were in Morgan and Scott counties. These wells threaten water supplies, air quality, farm animals, and the health of nearby residents. There have been over 1,000 documented cases of water contamination nationwide due to Fracking.
Come to a potluck supper and meeting of the Coalition for a Frack-Free Tennessee to learn the extent of this problem and help lay the framework for a solution. Hear about the Regional Fractivist Conference in Knoxville September 13-15, the latest on UT’s plan to frack 8600 acres of public land, and the exciting new video about fracking that CFFT is making.
